Thank you to everyone that has supported us over the last 25 years. We have tried to provide the best service possible and have helped thousands of pets live happier and healthier lives. While so many of you have been wonderful and loyal customers and I consider many of you friends, so many of our customers have traded the experience of shopping in our store for the online click and buy. But online can't provide product to you if you need it now.... only a store can do that. Online can't provide you someone you know and trust to answer your questions about your pets health and nutrition. Online provides no benefits to our community such as jobs or local donations. While I understand there are some benefits to online, I feel that we have provided much much more. But unfortunately due to a large customer decline over the last 3 plus years and a large increase in expenses, we have been forced to close. We thought about relocating to a smaller location, but I believe the trend of buying online will continue to grow and eventually the need for many stores will be gone. While I believe there will be some physical stores left, I think it will be few. We have tried to fight the Amazons and especially the Chewys of the world, but its not easy to battle companys that are worth billions and trillions of dollars. Especailly when people that come in your constantly remind you that they get most of their items online and on Chewys. Yes, dealt with those comments 3 or 4 times a day. I mean how do you compete with a guy that flew into space? Or a company that continues to lose hundreds of millions of dollars every year because they have so much financial backing that they can afford to do that until they put out the majority of stores.
To those that supported us for the last 25 years.....THANK YOU! To those that left us and that buy everything online.... think about what your town will look like in 5 years. Think about how unreasonable it is to think a small business can be cheaper on everything then a trillion dollar company....but we actually were the same or cheaper on many items. We always tried to provide a huge variety of quality food and products at the best prices we could. You need to think if the trade off is worth the loss of local business, the loss of the experience of physically going to a store, the loss of local donations and jobs and the loss of someone with the knowledge that you trust to help you with your questions and needs. I have unfortunately fallen victim to that trend. We were there for everyone during the first 3 or 4 months of covid making sure your pet received their foods either via curbside or working the long days and evenings making deliveries.
This was not an easy decision for me because I have done it for so long and love helping to better animals lives. And I will truly miss all of the conversations I have had over the years and especially the relationships I have built.
